Whether you are considering getting lip fillers or simply curious about the process, this blog is your ultimate guide to achieving plump and luscious lips.
Should you or shouldn't you? The choice is ultimately yours!
If you're over the age of 18 and are thinking of having lip augmentation, this could be for you! Of course there are risks associated with any procedure, lips are one of the most risky due to the vascularity of the lips, however they have been performed many times without complication!
Which filler to have?
Whilst there are many different fillers on the market for use in the lips, some are better than others for providing great results, length of time the procedure looks amazing and safety. Cheaper brands tend not to last and you end up having to have them redone in a few months, also may not be easily dissolvable in the case of complications.
We at at ZAP Aesthetics only use premium award winning fillers that provide longevity of treatment and safe aesthetic care. Always ask your injector about the brand, the longevity, the procedure and the ease for dissolving should an issue arise. An excellent injector will always have emergency treatment to hand just incase issues should happen.
If i have lip filler will i look like i have sausage lips?
The easy answer is no, unless you aim to achieve this look and you would need quite a few mls of filler.
How much can i have in one sitting?
For safety reasons, any safe injector would only administer 1 syringe at a time and then allow 4 weeks for the product to settle before adding more filler.
Do i have to have a full 1ml syringe?
No we use a 0.7ml of a premium grade filler which is sometimes enough for a subtle enhancement. It depends on what you are wanting your lips to look like! These are your lips and you are in control!
How long will it take for me to see my new lips?
You will see results instantly, however this is due to swelling mostly, lips will swell intermittently for approximately 5-7 days, they may feel lumpy but this is due to the trauma to the lip skin from the injections, we ensure the filler is smooth and lump free before you leave. If you're having a lot of swelling, antihistamines and ibuprofen can help. Also a cool pack applied to the lips (which we provide as a gift) would help.
What happens after?
So, the healing process begins, you may notice that the skin on your lips becomes dry, this is normal, just use a really good lip moisturiser throughout the day and at night when you go to sleep. Your lips may feel lumpy for approx 3-4 weeks, you may be able to feel the filler in the lips also, this is normal and becomes softer over time.
You may notice some bruising but this quickly resolves, not everyone experiences bruising. It can be dependent of various things such as: medications you are taking such as blood thinning, aspirin, when you last consumed alcohol, if you are anaemic among other causes.
If you are prone to cold sores, discuss this prior and a prescription medication can be provided for prophylactic treatment to take, this will reduce chances of an outbreak.
Whats the best injection technique?
Short answer is there isn't one, we use a range of injection techniques to achieve lift, projection and volume.
At ZAP Aesthetics safety whilst injecting and post procedure care is paramount! We are always on hand for any concerns post treatment that you may have!
